Guest Blogger: The Tiny Ego Contest

Today’s guest blogger comes from a veteran hooper, entertainer and facebooker who wishes to remain anonymous.  Not all of us bitchy hoopers want to air our panties out all over the internet.

“I began to understand that the goal of psychic development is the self. There is no linear evolution; there is only a circumambulation of the self.”

Lets begin here, shall we? The goal is development of the self.

“The first half of life is devoted to forming a healthy ego, the second half is going inward and letting go of it.”
-C.G. Jung

A healthy ego, those are the key words. What happens when the ego is not healthy but we falsely tell ourselves that it’s time to let it go? What happens when we go inward, into an unfinished abyss of egostistical, flawed self-absorbed mentality? We become what we already feared. A human, struggling upon a realistic path. I see alot of people, hoopers, gurus, yogis, leaders, that think they can have the light without the dark. It doesn’t work that way. The world is not black and white, it’s a very grey place. Should your feelings of negativity and doubt be discounted, shamed? Should you as a hooper, a person of supposed enlightenment reach for absolvement by blocking out and censoring any and all negative, un happy, completely ignoring friends and the common persons thoughts and timely emotions in leiu of an ego stripped bland life? No. I say, Fuck no, you shouldn’t. Just like you shouldn’t give up rock and roll because your granny said it was evil. Come to the dark side. Jung would approve of your dabbling every now and then to keep your game sharp.

Is it just me being bitchy when I read these “ego” nazis posts and feel that their need to point out how Facebook posts and selfies are taking away from the human experience is just a passive aggressive way to validate their own need for ego fueled emotion? Forgive me for the cliche, but isn’t that the pot calling the kettle black? OH EM GEEE, is this post, this blog my own ego fest for validation?? Lol, i hope so, because I fully embrace the irony of that bitch of a circle jerk. Seriously, though. Don’t these people realize that they’re pretty much showing their true colors? Everytime I read, “FB is so full of ego, and for my own enlightenment and enrichment of my soul Im going to trim down my friends list” or “I just cant get online much nowadays, its so full of negativity and pride” or “If you have to video yourself or post a selfie several times a day you have an underlying issue that needs to be fixed”, I’M GOING TO PUKE. I mean, its called “FACE” book, apparently its supposed to let you see other peoples “faces” on your “face”book. Its A. pretty much for the implimentation of boosting self confidence with your own updates, pictures, and “likes” for gods sake, and B. ….Fuck it, go back to point A. Its YOUR “facebook”. If thats not enough to boost your ego, i dont know what is. If you let it encourage your negative thoughts of your own self, shadow self, or emotions, then go back to the second Jung quote. A healthy ego. Get yourself healthy, then rejoin FB and deal in the real world with the rest of of us bitches.
